DescriptionNorth Carolina December 29, 1785 40s PCGS Apparent Fine 15.
A very rare late-date North Carolina note that is seldom available in any grade. We have sold two AUs in the past six years: one for just over $5000 and the other for just over $7000. While this note is certainly not in the same class as either of those two, the assigned grade of apparent 15 is, in our opinion, overly harsh. The comments on the PCGS holder, "Restorations; Design and Signatures Redrawn," are correct, but the restoration is done with great skill and the note has the visual appeal of a high-end VF.
