DescriptionNorth Carolina December, 1771 £5 PCGS Extremely Fine 40.
Far and away this highest denomination note is also the scarcest note from this well available colonial series. We have recently sold a PMG VF 25 for $188 and a PCGS AU 53PPQ for $646.25. The last couple of notes in this grade were over a year ago; a PCGS Apparent EF 45 that realized $558.13 and a PCGS EF 40 for $381.88. No matter how you slice it, this note, bearing relatively low serial number 208, is worth several hundred dollars.
