    Description

North Carolina December, 1771 £5 PCGS Apparent Extremely Fine 40.
This is the highest denomination of this common issue with a printing of only 2,000. The vignette is of a drum, cannon and flags. The Apparent grade has been assigned for some damage in the upper corner and small splits. The printing is exceptional pronounced with four signatures that look as if they were applied this morning. The back shows the bold "I. ASHE" stamp that is so often found on the pound denomination notes. A couple of months ago we sold a PCGS EF 45 example for a little under $400.
