    Description

North Carolina December, 1768 £5 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
The £5 was the highest denomination for this issue. The signatures of Richard Caswell, Lewis De Rosset, James Hasell, and Thomas C. Howe are still visible but faded on this example. James Davis printed these notes on thin paper from type. Davis was the first printer in that colony and began his business circa 1754-55. Several endorsements and notations are seen on the back. Some small, but non-intrusive edge tears account for the apparent grade.
