North Carolina April 23, 1761 L3 Very Fine. An unusually well margined example of a note that had a printing of only one thousand pieces, over 240 years ago. All four signatures remain bold, and save for a few minor repaired splits and a few pinholes, the note is flawless. Newman and Friedberg both price this L3 note at $500 in Very Fine, which is higher than the lower denominations, but CAA records indicate that the L3 is actually one of the more easily obtained pieces. We've sold only twelve examples of this issue for all denominations combined, and this is the fourth L3 example we've handled.
