    Appealing April 2, 1776 $6 Goat Note

North Carolina April 2, 1776 $6 Goat Fr. NC-163a PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
This is one of the most frequently encountered April 2, 1776, types. However, few are as appealing as this example and it is certainly worthy of a premium realization. A higher-denomination type printed on thicker paper and broadly margined compared to most we have seen. Very scarce in this better grade, like so many April 2, 1776, notes; most show unsightly flaws. No faults are noted by grading on this handsome note with the goat's shaggy coat and upraised tale finely detailed. Ex: our CAA May 15-16, 1998 sale, lot 87. Returning after 22 years in the Coltrane Collection, this example is essentially fresh to the market. It will fit beautifully into the next set of 56 Halifax-issue types or a Thirteen Colony collection.
    From The Mike Coltrane Collection.
