High Quality $5 ThrushNorth Carolina April 2, 1776 $5 Thrush PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
An exceptional example that is one of the nicest examples we have had the opportunity to sell. This is one of the most enigmatic series in all of colonial currency. There are 56 distinct varieties and, to our best knowledge, only two complete collections have ever been formed. The red signature of Williams remains legible and the details are quite strong. Technically not net graded by PMG but with the comment "Minor repair," which is a small edge split at top center. It has huge margins on all sides and is really an extraordinary piece. Superior to the Newman note which was graded PCGS Apparent VF 35, due to a large edge tear that still has tape over it. The $5 Triton is seen in high grade such is not the case with the Thrust. That note recently sold for $763.75 and we are confident this will do just as well.
