North Carolina April 2, 1776 $5 Thrush PCGS Apparent Very Fine 35.
From the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection. A gorgeous example of this somewhat tougher Thrush vignette $5 note that exhibits very bold detail even through there are a couple of edge splits and repairs. Totally problem free examples from this captivating 1776 issue are few and far between. The last one we sold in this grade range was also a PCGS Apparent Very Fine 35 that realized $575 back in our 2011 Long Beach sale.
