    $1 Scroll with Black Letters

North Carolina April 2, 1776 $1 Scroll with Black Letters Fr. NC-157d PMG Very Fine 25 Net.
There are two Scroll varieties: the denomination ONE DOLLAR is in either black or white letters. On this variety, there are black letters on a white background. Vine details are in the background. PMG mentions the note is "Repaired" with "Pieces Added." That work is observed at the right end of particularly fine laid paper. Ex: our 2018 Long Beach sale, lot 20215, where it realized $660; Thomas A. Gray Collection of North Carolina Colonial Currency. Considered "Very Rare" in Friedberg and not priced. A very collectible example; to our knowledge there are no choice notes known of this type.
    From The Mike Coltrane Collection.
