    Description

North Carolina April 2, 1776 $1/4 Extremely Fine. Unfortunately, this rare note has been split down its centerfold. But that centerfold was one of the few signs of circulation on this high-grade, attractive piece. Several needle holes indicate that this note was sewn at one time, but it's now been carefully glued. The signature is strong and the sea-urchin vignette is boldly printed. These lower-denomination examples of this extremely popular issue are virtually never seen. This is only the second example of this note this cataloger has seen in 40 years.
