DescriptionNorth Carolina April 2, 1776 $1/2 Monogram with toothed border of radial lines PCGS Apparent Very Fine 35.
This boldly printed note displays clear text and both signatures remain bold as does the serial number. As with the $1/8 and $1/4 denominations, there are eight varieties of the $1/2 notes. Within the $1/2 examples, there are two monogram varieties. Prior to this example, we had only offered one of each variety. This makes the second offering of a note with the toothed border of radial lines and this example has been graded 5 points higher than that note was. Baltimore goldsmith Gabriel Lewyn is credited with printing this issue and his initials appear within the monograms. The apparent grade was assigned to this note due to tape repaired edge tears according to the notation on the holder.
