DescriptionNorth Carolina April 2, 1776 $1/2 Crow and Pitcher PCGS Apparent Choice About New 58.
The crow and pitcher vignette refers to an Aesop's fable where a thirsty crow raises the water in a pitcher by dropping a number of pebbles into it until the liquid reaches beak level. This moral emphasizes ingenuity. The moral of our offering is that this note is by far the highest graded example to be in any of our auctions. That wide gulf is 18 grade points over its nearest competitor. This note is from lot 8392 Part XV of the John J. Ford, Jr., Collection. Ford acquired it from the auction of the John L. Roper Collection in 1984 in order to greatly upgrade his F.C.C. Boyd example. The auction tag from the Roper sale is included with this lot. The Apparent grade is for small tears, which are certainly trivial.
