    Description

North Carolina November 27, 1729 Counterfeit £3 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 35.
Due to the rather simple nature of this early handwritten emission, it becomes difficult to decipher the good from the bad. Previous researchers have, however, come to the conclusion that this is probably a contemporary counterfeit. This example, at least, includes the octagonal white paper on wax seal as part of the deception. PCGS notes the usual small edge splits and tears as well as minor ink erosion. Although a counterfeit, this still is worthy candidate for inclusion in many colonial currency collections. Formerly part of the John J. Ford, Jr. collection.
