North Carolina November 21, 1757 £5 PCGS Very Fine 30.
Although identified on the holder as NC-83, this note appears to have been part of the November 21, 1757 issue and would be NC-94. Many five pound notes from the May 28, 1757 and November 21, 1757 issues have been misattributed as NC-83 notes from the 1756-1757 (written dates) issue. This November 21, 1757 note is an example of the variety with the word "Payment" not hyphenated. This note has some repaired splits and tears as mentioned by PCGS, but it is extraordinarily well margined, with all of the ornamentation present and every letter of every word of the text clean and clear. The note is hand dated Dec. 15, 1757 and multiple endorsements are found on its blank back.
