    Description

North Carolina May 4, 1758 20s PCGS Apparent Very Fine 20.
Unpriced in Newman and listed simply as "very rare" in Friedberg. PCGS has assigned the Apparent grade for "Repaired Splits; Design, Text, Signatures and Serial Number Redrawn." But save for that, this note is a lightly circulated example of an issue that is simply never seen. We have handled only five pieces from this issue in the past, the best of which was a Very Fine, and also a 20s which realized $396 in 1998. Notes like this are notoriously challenging to estimate, but we would certainly expect this piece to approach, if not exceed the four-figure mark.
