    Description

North Carolina May 28, 1757 £5 per Centum PCGS Very Fine 25.
The Act of May 28, 1757 authorized £5,306 in Public Notes of Credit payable in Proclamation Money with 6% interest to September 29, 1758. The notes were typeset with the date and denomination to be written in. This example has clear design features and legible signatures of Thomas Barker and John Starkey with decent margins (although the right margin is tightly trimmed). PCGS mentions a short sealed centerfold split at top and a few more minor edge tears. An extremely rare note with only two examples making public auction appearances in recent history.
