North Carolina May 28, 1757 20s per Centum PCGS Very Fine 20.
When this rare note appeared in our 2011 FUN auction, the description read, "An important rarity, unpriced in any grade in Newman for any of the denominations. The note has decent eye appeal, although it has quite a number of restorations and minor problems. PCGS has assigned the apparent grade for 'multiple splits and tears; repairs; lower right corner replaced.' All are accurate, but sound a lot worse than the note actually appears." Since that time, the note is housed in a new holder with an italic grade in place of the apparent grade. The comments remain the same. This is the sole example of this Friedberg number to have been examined by either grading service, further attesting to the extreme rarity of the issue.
