North Carolina March 9, 1754 20s PCGS Very Fine 35.
A common issue in extremely low grade, with hundreds of notes available in the 6 through 15 apparent range. A note grading 35 is extremely rare, and even more so without the apparent designation or a single negative comment. It has stunning eye appeal and not a hint of a defect or repair. We sold a 30s in 2010 for $718 in this grade. That denomination comes much nicer than these 20s, and in fact save for a few 30s notes, this is top pop at PCGS for all the denominations of this issue. Serious collectors of this colony will recognize the rarity of this note, in spite of the high total census numbers.
