North Carolina July 14, 1760 L3 Extremely Fine. Another super note from this wonderful North Carolina Collection. It's beautifully margined, well signed and utterly without repair or restoration of any kind. Both Newman and Friedberg price this note at the highest level of any of the denominations, based no doubt on the small quantity printed (this is #443 of 1000 printed,) but the reality seems to indicate that the survival rate was considerably higher for this top denomination from the issue. In our 30+ sales, CAA has sold nine notes from the July 14, 1760 issue, indicating the rarity of the entire emission. But the breakdown by denominations shows a strange pattern. Prior to this offering, we had sold one 10s, one 20s, one 40s and six L3 notes. Nonetheless, this is the second nicest example of this denomination we've ever seen, and it's unpriced above Very Fine in either Newman or Friedberg.
