North Carolina December, 1771 £3 PCGS Apparent Very Choice New 64.
Unlike the lower denominations of this issue, which do come nice, the two highest denomination notes are rarely seen Uncirculated. This is the only Uncirculated example that PCGS has seen, with PMG also having a lone 64. We sold that PMG 64 example in 2009 for $1,380. Interestingly that note was serial number 972 and this example is 973. The Apparent is assigned for minor mounting marks on the back which are totally invisible through the PCGS holder.
