    Description

North Carolina August 8, 1778 $100 Freedom or an Honorable Death PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25.
A rare and difficult to find North Carolina type of the highest denomination from this motto series. Only 2500 notes were authorized, which is the lowest print run for the entire 1778 issue. We have auctioned only two different examples over the years, with this desirable former Eric P. Newman note being by far the nicer piece. The back label calls attention to small edge repairs, which are minor, and are mostly visible when the note is "candled" in front of a light source.
