    Description

North Carolina August 8, 1778 $1/8 Union of Hearts the Strength of Interest PCGS Choice About New 58.
Signed by James Kerr. Printed on thinner, dark coarse paper. Bold patriotic motto "Union of Hearts the Strength of Interests." The back shows this was printed by James Davis, 1778. PCGS notes there are "Minor Mounting Remnants," and they are indeed minor. Although not noted on the holder, this note comes from the F.C.C. Boyd estate and first sold at the Ford XV sale for $632.50. The Newman note graded PCGS About New 58PPQ and landed just below the $1,000 figure. This lowest denomination is really scarce in high grade.
