North Carolina August 21, 1775 $1/4 PCGS Fine 15.One of the few remaining examples of the lowest denomination note from the very rare Hillsborough series printed by New Bern silversmith William Tisdale using engraved plates. This note is backed and has considerable repairs about the edges, as well as redrawn signatures. Not a thing of beauty, but the important vignette remains untouched as does 90 plus percent of the text and design. Even the Newman and Ford examples had serious condition issues. In the hands of the proper restorer, this note would have the visual impact of a solid Very Fine. As it lays, its value is hard to ascertain.
