    Newman Plate Note

North Carolina April 4, 1748 9s PCGS Choice About New 55.
Printed on watermarked paper, this issue was pursuant to the Act of April 4, 1748 which provided for the redemption of the bills at 7 1/2 in old bills for 1 in new. This note is signed by Eleazer Allen, Edward Moseley, John Starkey and Samuel Swann. The left margin has an ornate design and most of the text is in script lettering. A vignette of a crowned lion is seen at left. The back has a number of calculations on it. This is our first opportunity to auction a note of this number and it is the plate note of the Newman Catalog on Early American Paper Money.
