North Carolina April 4, 1748 30 Shillings Winged Stirrup Fr. NC-68 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 20.
An appealing example of this early Proclamation Money issue with a winged stirrup emblem at the lower left for the Eric P. Newman Collection. The four signatures are a bit blurry in spots, but they can still be read as Starkey, Moseley, Allen, and Swann. This type was once much rarer many years ago, before a hoard was discovered. However, most examples of NC-68 from that hoard were damaged and vastly inferior to the present note. Multiple endorsements are on the blank back. Noted are "Splits and Repairs; Pinholes." Ex: our Eric P. Newman Internet Part 2 sale, January 2017, lot 90159; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
    From The Mike Coltrane Collection.
