    Description

North Carolina April 4, 1748 3 Pounds Fort Johnson and a Union Jack Fr. NC-70. PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
An appealing example of this early Proclamation Money issue with an interesting vignette of Fort Johnson and a Union Jack at the lower left. A quantity of 2,000 was authorized to be printed. Three of the four signatures are strong, but Eleazer Allen's is light. This type was much rarer until a hoard was found many years ago, but most of those examples were badly damaged and vastly inferior to Mike's. Noted with "Repaired Splits and Tears." A bright note bought from Greg Ton in 2014.
    From The Mike Coltrane Collection.
