    North Carolina April 2, 1776 $1/8 Monogram H PCGS Very Fine 20.
Although the vignette is one of the least visually pleasing of the 56 varieties, it is one of the rarest. Acquiring this note is an impressive achievement. The "Mirrored H" monogram type is exceedingly rare and one of the hardest to find of the 56 April 2, 1776 types. The "Mirrored H" was missing from the F. C. C. Boyd Collection, which makes the rarity quite evident. This has a very sharply printed monogram at the lower left. The Newman example was an Apparent 15 with broad margins and a fair amount of damage. This note is an italic 20 with about an equal amount of damage, but that damage has been nicely restored and the appearance is far better than the Newman example which realized $3,995.
