    Handsome $1/4 Barracuda Note

North Carolina April 2, 1776 $1/4 Barracuda Fr. NC-155g PCGS Very Fine 35.
A rare low-denomination note and a handsome example. Three sides show a patterned border, and the long body of the barracuda with short hatch marks appears to glisten. Printed on thin watermarked laid paper. "Restorations" are cited by PCGS. Ex: our 2018 Long Beach sale, lot 20202, where it realized $1,200; Thomas A. Gray Collection of North Carolina Colonial Currency. A solid looking note with sharp printing clarity.
    From The Mike Coltrane Collection.
