    Description

North Carolina April 2, 1776 $1/2 Hunter, Dog and Target PCGS About New 53.
There are eight difference varieties of the $1/2 note from this issue. The vignette lacks the normal surrounding circle and has two characters at the left. A hunter firing his rifle and his dog seated at his side. At the far right along the frame line is a small square, easy to miss (no pun intended) target. A clever feature of the design that we had never before noticed. When these lower denomination pieces are seen, they are almost always in tatters. This piece is well margined, well signed, and totally problem free save for the small edge splits which PCGS has properly mentioned. This is the finest example of this note that we have ever sold.
