Schenectady, (New York) - Reformed Dutch Church, at Schenectady Sept. 6, 1790 1 Penny Newman page 308, Harris H7. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent.
This is a high-grade note from the first of two dates issued by the Church. Printed in all red on the face and black on the back by C. R. & G. Webster, Albany. The style is similar to that of Canajohary (by the same printer) with ornamental bordering on both sides and text within. This is hand signed by D. Romeyn. The back has "Church-Money" in the center and the imprint at base. Noted with "Small Edge Tears" only. The color is vibrant, and this is vastly superior to the only other example we offered. Sold in January 2016, that example realized $493.50; it was graded PCGS Fine 15 Apparent and had repairs. The present note has both pedigree and eye appeal.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
