New York September 2, 1775 $5 PCGS Very Fine 30.
An issue and denomination that is deceptively scarce as we have offered relative few in our auctions over the years. Although we don't want to quibble with the assessment of the grading services, this note certainly appears to be an embossed Extremely Fine note and we are quite certain it will be bid on very strongly for a VF 30 example. Well margined, deeply printed and with sensational visual impact for the grade. The last example we sold was a raw VF-EF note with several tears and that note realized $258.50; this note will do far better.
