    Description

New York September 2, 1775 $1 Fine. Heavily circulated, but very well margined and without meaningful problems. The note is signed by "J. Reade," who is referred to by Newman as John Reade. Reade Street first appeared on a 1797 New York City map, and it was named for Joseph Reade, a warden of Trinity Church. The two Reades are very likely related.
