Gorgeous 1771 New York ColonialNew York February 16, 1771 £2 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
Those who are the cognoscenti of the colonial currency market know well that eye appeal sells colonials. Although there are some repaired edge tears and minor ink erosion, this is certainly one of the prettiest examples we have sold from this notoriously condition-challenged series which produced a lot of ugly, heavily problemed survivors. It has bright paper, full margins and virtually every detail of the printing is clearly visible. In our FUN sale, we just sold another note from this series, in the same PCGS Apparent VF 30 grade and with inferior eye appeal, for $376. This note is that much better.
