New York April 20, 1756 £2 PMG Good 6 Net.
£52,000 in legal tender Bills of Credit was authorized on April 1, 1756, with redemption to occur by November 1766. The £5 and £10 notes of this issue are seen occasionally, but these lower denominations are particularly rare. Only 1,000 of this £2 were printed; all the other denominations had printings of between 2,000 and 4,000 notes. This note was missing from the Ford Collection and is the only example graded by PMG, with only one other example presently known to us. This note was backed at some point, saving it from what would have almost certainly been total disintegration. Although the signatures are gone, the design features are clear, and all things considered, this is a decent example of this excessively rare denomination that will be an important addition to any collection.
