DescriptionNew York April 18, 1786 5s PCGS Apparent Very Good 10.
The only previous example of this note that we have sold was in 2003 when we sold a taped, split, and repaired note that was only three-quarters present for $977. That note was missing the entire signature block. This note also has problems and has received the apparent grade for "Splits, Tears, and Repairs; Stains; Sewn to Backing." All these problems are contemporary to the note's circulation. It has no recently performed repairs or restorations. It was previously lot 8357 from the Ford-Boyd sale in October 2006, where it realized $1265. The entire issue is unpriced in either Friedberg or Newman, with the only mention of a sale in Newman being this very note.
Estimate: $2,500 - up.
