New York August 25, 1774 (Water Works) Consecutive 1s Pair PCGS Choice New 63PPQ.
Identical in grade and appearance, and naturally sharing the same signatures, these are notes number 3471 and 3472 from the first New York City Water Works issue. Only a total of four thousand examples were printed, with these beginning to approach the end of the run. We cannot recall seeing a consecutive pair of these before, and either one of these would be a real find by itself. We have never sold an example of this note grading higher than 64, yet these remain relatively inexpensive. We suspect this gorgeous consecutive pair will bring short of $1,000. (Total: 2 notes)
