Bold 1786 State of New Jersey 6 ShillingsState of New Jersey 1786 6 Shillings Fr. NJ-213. PCGS Very Fine 25.
This is a very scarce series of notes and particularly so in grades Very Fine or better; the majority is known rather soiled and frayed. The face has the State Arms in red and the backs with the nature print. The quality of this 6 Shilling example is on a par with the Boyd notes sold at Ford Part XV and superior to the notes in James DuPont's 1993 Smythe auction. This is an undervalued series without high grade hoards known. A superior type note and late Colonial Currency type.

A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
