New Jersey June 9, 1780 $20 PCGS Choice New 63PPQ.
Incredible grade for the issue with bright paper and strong signatures. These notes were printed with black ink on the faces and red and black ink on the backs by Hall & Sellers. The paper is mica-flaked and has a UNITED STATES watermark in two lines. Henry Dawkins, who had previously worked for the British as a counterfeiter, performed some of the engraving for this issue. Philemon Dickinson and David Brearley were the signers of this example. Joseph Borden signed the guaranty. The $20 denomination was the highest for this issue and 12,000 notes were printed. Joseph Borden who signs the guaranty is the name sake of Bordentown, New Jersey and David Brearley went on to sign the United States Constitution in 1787.
