    Description

New Jersey June 22, 1756 1s PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
£21,000 in Bills of Credit was authorized on June 2,1756, with £17,500 earmarked for war expenses and £3500 for the replacement of earlier notes no longer fit for circulation. The issue had legal tender status until June 22,1761 and became invalid after December 22, 1761. The notes were printed by James Parker, with 9750 notes of this denomination being authorized. This design features the royal coat of arms on the face and a nature print of a sage leaf on the back. This note is virtually as nice as the day it came of the press 265 years ago and currently shares the top spot in PMG's Population Report with four other examples. It is darkly printed on bright paper with clear margins and bold penned signatures along with a serial number that has been corrected from 4353 to 4453.
