New Jersey January 9, 1781 6d PMG Very Fine 25.
£30,000 in legal tender Bills of Credit was authorized by the Act of January 9, 1781. The notes were to be redeemed by December 31, 1787. Subsequently the notes' legal tender status was revoked as of May 1, 1782. The Act of December 21, 1784 revalued notes at a ratio of $3 in bills for $1 in specie. The printing totals (20,000) and designs (the New Jersey coat of arms on the face and a nature print of a sage leaf on the back) were common to all denominations that ranged from 6d to 7s6d ($1). This example has seen moderate circulation but all design elements remain clear including the signatures of Neil and Smith. The paper pull mentioned by PMG has somehow missed all of printed design elements on the back.
