New Jersey February 20, 1776 15s PCGS Choice About New 55PPQ.
Originally £30,000 in Proclamation Money was authorized by an Ordinance of the Provincial Congress on October 28, 1775. Before the issue was printed it was increased to £50,000 and the redemption date was extended by five years to December 21, 1791. The issue was to become invalid after June 21, 1792. The issue was given legal tender status on September 20, 1776. Denominations ranged from 6s to £3 and were printed by Isaac Collins on mica flaked paper watermarked NEW JERSEY. 6667 15s notes were printed. This note retains much of its original beauty with well printed design elements in black and red on bright paper with decent margins. There are bold signatures of Azariah Dunham, John Dennis, and Hendrick Fisher. We are only aware of a small number of examples in higher grades.
