Description

New Jersey April 23, 1761 30s Fine. The text on this two-color higher denomination note is fully legible. In spite of heavy circulation and rounded corners, it is in far better shape than most examples. The signers of this 30 shillings note were Nevill, Rodman, and Smith. Only 5000 of these notes were printed. The printer, James Parker, also served as a magistrate, was the captain of a horse troop, and held several positions in the general post office for the northern district of the British colonies. This note was likely pin money as there are several spaced holes. There is a repaired center split.
