Possibly Unique September 8, 1775 3 Pounds Note

New Jersey September 8, 1755 3 Pounds Fr. NJ-81. PCGS Good 6 Apparent.
This is an extreme rarity with only 750 printed. The series is rarer than the 1746 Franklin-printed notes. The Boyd Collection had only one and it was sold in the Ford III sale in May 2004 for $2,300 as a "Fair" graded raw note (the 5th edition Newman plate note). The DuPont Collection, sold in 1993 by R, M. Smythe & Co., did not have even one example from the issue within its comprehensive cabinet of New Jersey notes. This note is backed upon thin white paper, but faces up with sharp red color at the left end and texts. A few small voids and three rough corners are all noted by grading as "Splits, Tears, and Damage; Backed." Collector pencil notations on the back of the white sheet include "W-" and perhaps "Brown." The condition is academic, as this note appears to be unique. A priceless note and an important opportunity for the specialist.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
