    Description

New Jersey May 15, 1755 30s PCGS Apparent Very Good 8.
£15,000 in Bills of Credit was authorized on April 22, 1755 to pay for military operations against the French. The notes were legal tender until My 15,1760 and invalid after November 15 of that year. 1,500 notes of this denomination were issued and this is one of perhaps just two or so survivors that have come down to us today. This example, once part of the Eric P. Newman collection, features the royal coat of arms on the face and a nature print of a sage leaf on the back. It has seen time in circulation and has a large centerfold split and minor repairs but has survived. An historic note from New Jersey's pre-Revolutionary period.
From the Colonial Valley Collection, Part II
