John Hart Signed New Jersey 30s

New Jersey February 20, 1776 30s John Hart PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ. This note is boldly signed by John Hart, one of the signers of the Declaration of independence. Hart's signature is much rarer on this February issue than it is on the March 25 issue to follow. Hart, along with Samuel How, had signed a number of notes from this issue which were stolen by the British in a military raid. These notes were circulated before the third signature was added, even though they were actually invalid as currency without the third signature. This is one of those notes. This one, although clearly a product of the military raid bearing only the Hart and How signatures, was never circulated. It's a wonderfully Choice example with both signatures fully dark.
