    Description

New Jersey December 31, 1763 £6 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
The apparent grade is due to a small, unmolested split at the top of the center fold. Save for that, this is an exceptional quality example of the highest denomination from this issue. This is the early Jersey issue that is extremely common in the lower denominations, with even uncirculated examples up through the 15s note readily available. The £3 and £6 are a very different story. Only 500 £6 notes were printed, and to our knowledge all were released into circulation. That any at all survive is nothing short of a numismatic miracle. This piece is only the fifth example we know of. It's serial number 205 (295?) of the 500. The last digit of the serial number on the PCGS holder is in error, as it is actually part of the signature below. Beautifully printed, with great color and all three signatures bold.
