New Jersey December 20, 1783 2s/6d PCGS Apparent Fine 15.
An extremely rare issue that we have handled only once before. It is unpriced in both Newman and Friedberg and virtually never seen in any condition. The only previous example we have sold was back in 2004. It was a raw VG that will likely grade good by today's standards. That note realized $1,495. Eleven years later this far better piece should more than double that. The note traces its history to the Boyd-Ford sale Part XV in Atlanta in October 2006. PCGS has graded only two examples, both of which were called Apparent and do not appear in their census. A few repaired splits affect nothing. This is one, and it is likely that our 2004 VG is the other.
