    Description

Finely Detailed Green Back April 12, 1757 6 Pounds

New Jersey April 12, 1757 6 Pounds Fr. NJ-104. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent.
This highest denomination is from the Fifth War Issue and was legal tender for the next seven years. Only 500 notes were authorized, and this is an outstanding example. Illustrated in the color plates on page 49 of the fifth edition of Newman's reference, The Early Paper Money of America. The style is similar to the June 22, 1756, face with Royal arms and red text. It also uses the James Parker green sage leaf back. Broad size for the type with most of the red double frame lines visible. The finely detailed leaf and border on the riveting green back are vibrant and sharp. Though noted with "Minor Mounting Remnants on Face," they are barely discernible. This is one of the finest known of the type.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
