    Description

New Hampshire Contemporary Counterfeit November 3, 1775 40s Fine. Forty Shillings notes of this emission are listed as contemporary counterfeits by Newman, but these notes were properly printed and signed in the shop of the man who printed the genuine notes. These notes have always been collected as avidly as the genuinely issued pieces. New Hampshire notes are the rarest of the original Thirteen Colonies (Vermont, the really rare one, was the fourteenth.) This note has been split in half and it also has several edge splits. All of these have been repaired with stamp hinge tape. There is also some edge chipping and a moisture spot in the upper right corner. It has the folds of a higher grade, yet its appearance is of a Fine note.
