New Hampshire July 25, 1775 1s/6d PCGS Apparent Very Fine 20.
The only example graded at either service, not only for this denomination but for the entire issue. The Friedberg catalog simply calls these very rare. The Newman catalog prices them at $2500 in Fine with no higher grade listed. This is the first example from this issue that we have ever sold. The Apparent grade has been given for "Major Restorations; Design and Signatures Redrawn," which is substantially correct, although we would quibble with the "major" as much of the restoration work is in the blank margin area, and we do not believe the signatures to be redrawn. The overall appearance is excellent and the rarity cannot be overstated.
